PALS is intended for emergency personnel in intensive care or critical care departments and emergency medical providers. The overall goal of the PALS Course is to provide healthcare professionals with didactic and psychomotor skills training in the recognition and treatment of conditions that may lead to cardiopulmonary arrest in an infant or child. PALS incorporates both pre-hospital and hospital management of pediatric emergencies and reflects the 2015 guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiovascular care.
A two day course is offered to those who have never taken PALS before. It is approximately 15 hours.
A one day course is offered to those who are seeking renewal of PALS. It is approximately 7 hours.
Successful completion is based on passing the written exam as well as achievement of the core learning objectives rather that a prescribed instruction time.
